Insolvency Practitioners

Ian Rose
Ian has been involved in Insolvency work since 1985, initially working for the Official Receivers Office in Birmingham before moving to Baker Tilly. He then spent time at Pricewaterhouse Coopers before joining Poppleton and Appleby in Stoke On Trent as a Manager. He became a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner in July 2001, a short time after he was made Partner at Poppleton and Appleby. He then moved to Begbies Trayner in 2005 where he was made Partner when they took over P & A Stoke. In 2007, Ian left Begbies to form Silke and Co, initially with a team of 4 and the team has expanded by an additional 30 since 2007.

Catherine Lee-Baggaley (Kate)
Kate first started in Insolvency in 1996 with Barringtons in Newcastle under Lyme.  She joined Poppleton and Appleby in Stoke On Trent in 2000 progressing to Manager. Kate became an Insolvency Practitioner in 2004 and following a takeover from Begbies Traynor became a Director. In January 2008 Kate joined BRI Business Recovery & Insolvency as an Insolvency Practitioner and after 12 months she became self employed forming IP Insolvency Solutions relocating to Tamworth. In 2011 Kate joined Silke and Co, to assist Ian in heading up the technical side of the firm and started taking Insolvency appointments in September 2012.

Karen Potts
Karen started her career in debt collection issuing winding up and bankruptcy petitions. In 1990 she joined the insolvency team at Stoy Hayward in Baker Street, London, later transferring to the Chelmsford office. During this period Karen qualified as an accountant through ACCA. She joined Morison Stoneham, which became Tenon Recovery, in Chelmsford in 1996 progressing to senior manager and passing the JIEB exams. In 2004 she relocated to Chesterfield and joined Synergi Partners becoming a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner in 2005. Subsequently she worked at Central IVA processing in Norwich and then Chatsworth & Co, which became Indebiti Solutions, in East Yorkshire as an Insolvency practitioner. In 2017 Karen joined Silke & Co, to manage the investigation team and is now taking insolvency appointments in addition to Ian and Kate.

Ian, Kate and Karen specialise in all aspects of Insolvency and are members of R3 the Association of Business Recovery Professionals.

Ian and Kate are Insolvency Practitioners licensed to act by the Insolvency Practitioners Association. Karen is an Insolvency Practitioner licensed in the United Kingdom by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants

The extended team also consists of a Practice Manager, this position is supported by Department Managers,  Assistant Managers, Senior Administrators and Administrators who manage the work from the initial enquiry stage through to completion. This is further supported by a finance department including a Cashier and Accounts Assistants. The whole operation is assisted by a managed Administration Team.
